Luigi Mangione, What's your opinion on this case? Reply with your opinion and Check out the site his lawyers created for him.

While I do not condone acts of violence, and my sympathies go out to Brian Thompson's family,  this case is politically charged like no other.  I have first hand knowledge and experience of just how "off" the system actually is, especially in a place like New York.  The system,  while there is some good left in our system, many times is nothing more than an underhanded game of greed.  It's true,  and the youth of America are aware and realize this.  My own personal experiences with government,  the food and medical industry,  nearly cost me my life.  I can identify with the political issues that eminate from this case.  So many people are sick from the food,  so many people dying early deaths on account of a failed medical and food industry.  The people we have placed our trust in for so many issues concerning our health,  have turned out to be the people we trust the least.  Modern society,  with all its upside down backwards institutions,  created Luigi Mangione,  and I don't see the situation improving.  Liberal areas love victims because then they get to write about,  produce documentaries and movies,  and make money from horrific incidents such as this.  While I understand the political implications of this incident,  why does it turn into profits?  This is the problem,  and the younger generation cannot stand this.

We are all being lied to everyday,  and some of the issues we are being lied to about is what led to this horrible murder case.  Why?  Because greed is more important than being a decent human being. We have all become prisoners of Greed and tyranny.  Its a huge problem that only worsens everyday.  Watch the documentary and look at the huge steel spikes doctors inserted into Luigi's spine.  Its completely insane. I would like to know how much that surgeon was paid for that surgery?  I am willing to wager that Luigi was suffering with chronic pain.  No matter how you look at it,  the poor and middle class are paying a huge price for the super wealthy.  When you see the reactions of many Americans,  its mind blowing but also understandable. The system is failing all of us. This young man had the world in his palm.  It was the system  and probably his own health conditions that drove him to do what he did.
Watch the documentary,  and then reply with a comment and let me know your opinion. We need change.

Luigi Mangione: From Accomplished Graduate to Accused Murderer

Luigi Nicholas Mangione, born on May 6, 1998, is an American man who was identified as the suspect in the killing of Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, which took place in New York City on December 4, 2024.

Mangione's Early Life and Education

Mangione was born in Towson, Maryland, to a Baltimore-area family of Italian descent. In 2020, Mangione graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League institution, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) in computer engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering (MSE) in computer and information science. His undergraduate studies included a minor in mathematics, and his graduate curriculum was concentrated in artificial intelligence. While an undergraduate student, he was a UI programming intern with Firaxis Games between May 2016 and August 2017.

The Killing of Brian Thompson

On December 4, 2024, Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, was shot and killed in New York City. Mangione was identified as the suspect in the killing and was arrested five days later in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

Mangione's Arrest and Charges

Upon searching Mangione, police said they found a similar 3D-printed gun and 3D-printed suppressor to the weapons used in the shooting and a fake driver's license from New Jersey with the name "Mark Rosario", the same name used by the alleged shooter to check into a Manhattan hostel. Shell casings found at the crime scene reportedly matched the gun. The police also said that, when they arrested Mangione, they found a 262-word handwritten document partly about the American healthcare system, which was characterized as a manifesto by multiple media outlets. Mangione had no prior criminal record.

Mangione was charged in Blair County, Pennsylvania, with carrying a gun without a license, forgery, falsely identifying himself to the authorities, and possessing "instruments of crime" on December 9, 2024. Later that day, Mangione was charged in Manhattan with second-degree murder, three counts of illegal weapons possession, and forgery and sent to the State Correctional Institution at Huntingdon, a close-security state correctional facility in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania.

Possible Remedies for Murder Through Use of a Firearm

Possible remedies for murder through use of a firearm (the 3rd federal charge) include death. On January 30, 2025, President Donald Trump signed an executive order which requires the death penalty to be used wherever possible, meaning that federal prosecutors will likely pursue it in Mangione's case. Mangione was extradited to New York and is currently being held at Metropolitan Detention Center, Brooklyn, under Federal Register Number 52503-511.

Mangione's Online Support

Since his arrest, Mangione has received extensive support online, with many celebrating him as a folk hero. Some opinion polls found a plurality of American adult respondents held a negative view toward Mangione, with younger and left-leaning respondents more likely to support him.

Mangione's Posts

Mangione's posts were found to express concerns over the implications of pornography, DEI programs, falling fertility rates, wokeism, secularization, and the decline of Christianity, and he promoted traditionalist ideas. He leans in favor of religion in general on evolutionary grounds, opposing New Atheism and expressing interest in Japan's indigenous religion, Shintoism. Mangione showed a skeptical attitude toward both Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

Brian Robert Thompson (July 10, 1974 – December 4, 2024) was the chief executive officer (CEO) of UnitedHealthcare, the health insurance arm of UnitedHealth Group, from April 2021 until his death.

Thompson was a married father of two children from Maple Grove, Minnesota. He worked for UnitedHealth Group for 20 years.

Thompson was shot and killed in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, on December 4, 2024. The shooting occurred early in the morning outside an entrance to the New York Hilton Midtown. Thompson was in the city to attend an annual investors' meeting for UnitedHealth Group.

Prior to his death, he faced criticism for the company's rejection of insurance claims, and his family reported that he had received death threats in the past. The words "delay", "deny", and "depose" were inscribed on the cartridge cases used during the shooting.

On December 9, 2024, authorities arrested 26-year-old Luigi Mangione in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and charged him in a Manhattan court with Thompson's killing.

Authorities said Mangione was carrying a 3D-printed pistol and a 3D-printed suppressor consistent with those used in the attack, as well as a short handwritten letter styled as a manifesto criticizing the American healthcare system, an American passport, and multiple fraudulent IDs, including one with the same name. Authorities also said his fingerprints matched the partial smudged prints that investigators found near the New York shooting scene. Police believe that he was inspired by "Unabomber" Ted Kaczynski's manifesto Industrial Society and Its Future (1995), and motivated by his own personal views on US health insurance. It is speculated an injury he suffered may have played a part. Mangione was arraigned in Altoona on December 9, 2024. After waiving extradition in Pennsylvania, he appeared in a federal court in New York City on December 19. On December 23, he was arraigned in the New York Supreme Court and pled not guilty to New York state charges. Mangione has been indicted on eleven state charges and faces four federal charges; the charges include first-degree murder, murder in furtherance of terrorism, criminal possession of a weapon, and stalking. He may face the death penalty if convicted on the federal charges.
